ABOUT
The Community Governance Card tool is meant to help online communities craft intentional digital spaces that can learn from, connect to, and coordinate with a broader network of communities. A collaboration between Princeton HCI and Bonfire Networks, it's also part of a research program on how to move toward a community-owned and -governed internet.
What we're working on
- Iterating on the card generator through interviews and surveys
- Collating a dataset of cards from real-life communities into an open library
- Co-designing mechanisms for communities to build "trust bubbles"
A chunk of this work is informed and driven by design workshops we ran in Summer 2025, findings from which are summarized in this academic pre-print (forthcoming in CHI 2026).
